About this tool
Why Compress Images?
Large images are one of the most common causes of slow websites. A page that takes more than
3 seconds to load loses over half its visitors. Compressing images reduces file size without
significant loss of visible quality — making your site faster and your Google rankings better.
- Faster page load — smaller images download faster, especially on mobile
- Better SEO — Google uses page speed as a ranking factor
- Lower bandwidth — reduces hosting costs and data usage
- Better Core Web Vitals — improves LCP (Largest Contentful Paint) scores
How it works
How the Image Compressor Works
This tool uses your browser's built-in Canvas API to re-encode images at a lower quality
setting. All processing happens locally on your device — your images are never uploaded to
any server.
- Upload your image (JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP)
- Adjust the quality slider — lower = smaller file, higher = better quality
- Choose the output format (JPG, PNG, or WebP)
- Click Compress — preview both versions side by side
- Download the compressed image in one click
Tips
Compression Tips
- JPG at 70–80% — ideal for photos. Barely visible quality loss, significant size reduction.
- PNG — use for images with text, logos, or transparency. PNG compression is lossless.
- WebP — best overall format. Smaller than JPG at the same quality, supports transparency.
- Start at 70% quality and reduce until the preview looks acceptable for your use case.
